![]() In a 2006 study by Leeds Memory Group, researchers would first create a memory for patients under hypnosis. Scientists have tried to effectively recreate déjà vu in the lab. But scientists have tried using tricks like hypnosis and virtual reality. The very things that intrigue us about déjà vu are the same things that make it hard to study. We associate the feeling of déjà vu with mystery and even the paranormal because it is fleeting and usually unexpected. That explanation is perfect for cyberpunk science fiction, but it doesn't give us any scientific understanding of the phenomenon. Spooky!Ĭarrie-Anne Moss, as Trinity in The Matrix trilogy, tells us (and Keanu Reeves as Neo) that déjà vu is a " glitch in the Matrix"-the simulated reality that keeps humanity unaware that intelligent machines have actually taken over the world. Some think déjà vu is a sign that you're recalling an experience from a past life. We call that sensation déjà vu, a French phrase that means "already seen." But what is déjà vu, and can science explain why it happens? Déjà vu feels like a "glitch in the Matrix" What intentions she has with it is unknown, but Billie has finally taken her life back into her own hands.Wait, have I been here before? Have we stood in this exact spot as you said these same words to me at some point in the past? Haven’t I seen this very cat pass by this very hallway already? Sometimes, as we experience a new event or place, we get that creepy feeling that it's not the first time. At the end of the movie, as she looks over and smiles at Rose, it is revealed that the crystal is tucked away inside Billie's purse. She leaves for the art gallery as she has done many times before, and when approached by Christine this time, she also declines her advances. Alex tries to buy her a drink, but Billie declines it. Jagged Mind comes to a close with Billie back at the bar the night of that same art gallery exhibit from the beginning of the film, except she possesses all her knowledge of the time resets. After she leaves the store, he opens the box, and, to his surprise, it is revealed that the box is empty. With Billie free at last from Alex's time manipulation as well as her emotional manipulation, she gives the wooden box and crystal back to Papa Juste. ![]() She uses Alex's blood with the crystal to reset time once more, back to a time before she and Alex was ever even acquainted. Alex is able to grab ahold of Billie, but Billie eventually gets the upper hand and stabs her in the abdomen with a broken wine bottle. According to Rose and Papa Juste, in order to end the time loops, Billie needs to take the crystal from Alex and reset time all the way back to before she met Rose, and then return the crystal and box to Papa Juste.Īfter this revelation, a fight ensues. The box and its contents, however, are unaffected by these time resets. ![]() The crystal's ability to reset time is powered by blood, which explains the small cuts on Billie's body. Once Alex found out about the crystal's time manipulation properties, she stole it to use for her own personal means. When Rose and Alex were dating, Rose used the necklace to make their relationship last amid Alex's attempts to break up with her. In the video, Rose explains that she had been the original owner of a crystal necklace that Alex had been wearing. Inside is also a flash drive, which contains a video of her, Rose and Papa Juste, the man from her dreams. Billie finds a wooden box in the home of the now deceased Rose, the featured photographer from the art gallery the night of her and Alex's "first" date, and opens it to discover notes that she wrote to herself, reminding her of all the awful and abusive things Alex has done throughout their relationship.
